Twilight -the book vs. Twilight -the movie
Let me start off by saying that this is my opinion and my opinion alone. I am pretty sure I will upset even my fellow Twerds with what I must say here on my Soapbox. With that said, here I go!
After some discussion with ones who have read the books and watched the movies and others who for reasons beyond my comprehension, did not read the books but watched the movies, I have formed an opinion as to why people just don't get it. It being Twilight.
What seems to be in agreement is that Bella, both in book and movie form, is annoying as all hell and most definitly not good enough for our beloved Edward Cullen. However, she makes him happy and that is truly what matters. Edward's happiness. *sigh..... Anyway, I digress. Bella, however, in the book makes more sense. It NEVER is a choice in the book. It is as clear as black and white that Edward is her destiny and she wants no other, especially Shark Boy, I mean Jacob. The book is all through Bella's thoughts. In her annoying little head, she is set in her goals and her need for Edward to be in her life. Bella in the movies, however, seems to display behavior that leads everyone to believe that Jacob has a chance with her. Now, if you read the books, that's okay cuz it makes some sense. Her actions have her drawn to Jacob in an inexplicable way, even Bella doesn't understand why. No one knows why. If you read the books, you know that Bella really HATES that she does this to Jacob, that she does lead him on and she does see that she hurts Edward's feelings with some of her actions.
So basically, if you only watch the movies and never read the books, you will never truly understand Twilight and the attraction us obsessed fans have to this story of destiny. If you only watch the movies, you not only get pieces of the whole story but a skewed and sometimes even wrong impression of the Bella and Edward characters. As for Jacob, he's an ass in both book and movie form.
